For the presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton in 1993, Maya Angelou recited her poem “On the Pulse of Morning”. This made her the first poet to make an inaugural recitation since Robert Frost did one for John F. Kennedy in 1961. Then her recording of this poem won a Grammy Award.
